I went on a trip to Italy in 1996, specifically Tuscany and Umbria. If I could say now what place has light like here in the high desert of New Mexico, it would be this area of Italy. I moved to New Mexico six months after this trip, so maybe it was my love of the light in Tuscany that  brought me here to Santa Fe.

Italy was one big feast of food, local wine, pottery, cathedrals, markets, hidden B & Bs, mach ten on the auto strada and long slow sojourns down winding country roads through vineyards and walled villages. It was pure heaven, and I intend to get back there again soon.
